Ying Mountain County is located in the northeast of Hubei Province, situated at the southern foot of the main peak of the Dabie Mountains, Tiantangzhai (1729.13 meters above sea level). It borders Yuxi, Taohu, Huoshan, and Jieshou counties in Anhui Province to the northeast, and Luotian, Hishui, and Eichun counties in Hubei Province to the southwest. It was the ancestral land of the Gaoyao tribe in ancient times, the territory of Ying Bu during the Han Dynasty, the hometown of Bi Sheng in the Song Dynasty, and is now known as a silk and tea producing area, a hot spring city, and a leisure paradise. The county covers an area of 1,449 square kilometers, has 3 towns and 8 townships, 309 administrative villages, and a total population of 406,000.
The Ying Mountain County People's Hospital was established in October 1949 and initially named the "Ying Mountain County People's Government Health Station". In November 1951, it was renamed the "Ying Mountain County People's Government Hospital". In April 1961, it moved to Beimenao and was renamed the "Ying Mountain County People's Hospital". It is a non-profit comprehensive hospital that integrates medical care, health care, rehabilitation, emergency medical services, teaching, and scientific research. It is also an "Aging-friendly Hospital", a network hospital of the Ministry of Health's International Rescue Center, a key supported hospital of the Hospital Rehabilitation Management Branch of the National Health Industry Management Association, a member hospital of the Wuhan Central South Hospital Medical Alliance, and the business and technical guidance center for the county. It has established technical cooperation relationships with the Wuhan Union Hospital, the Wuhan General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army (Luzong), the Hubei Provincial People's Hospital, and the Hubei Provincial Cancer Hospital. In January 2022, it was approved as a level III comprehensive hospital by the Hubei Provincial Health Commission. The medical services are based locally and radiate to two provinces and seven counties.
In August 2016, the hospital was relocated to its current location at 166 Yanhe West Road, Yingshan Economic and Technological Development Zone. The new hospital covers an area of 120 acres, with a total building area of 112,400 square meters. It has 800 planned beds and 850 open beds, with an overall green cover rate of 32%, a floor area ratio of 1.55, and 450 parking spaces for motor vehicles and 280 for non-motor vehicles. The total investment is about 5.6 billion yuan. The new hospital has 40 clinical and technical departments and 22 administrative departments. The hospital currently has 954 employees, including 864 health professionals, 96 senior titles, and 384 intermediate titles. The annual number of outpatient and emergency visits is 580,000, and the annual number of inpatients is 36,500. More than 9,000 surgeries are performed annually.
